Peacock to Raise Subscription Prices and Introduce New ‘Select’ Tier

NEW YORK — Peacock, the streaming service owned by Comcast’s NBCUniversal, announced on Thursday that it will increase prices for its premium plans by $3 per month and begin testing a more affordable “Select” tier aimed at television enthusiasts.

Effective July 23, the ad-supported Premium plan will rise to $10.99 per month, while the ad-free Premium Plus plan will cost $16.99 per month, according to a statement from the company. This marks the second price adjustment in recent years, following a $2 increase implemented ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The new “Select” tier, priced at $7.99 per month, will be tested starting later this month. It targets TV lovers by offering current seasons of popular shows from NBC and Bravo, along with a curated selection of library titles. Peacock described the tier as a streamlined option for viewers seeking essential network content without the full breadth of its library.

Peacock highlighted its robust sports offerings as a key differentiator, claiming it will stream more live sports content in 2026 than competitors Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and Netflix combined. In the United States, this includes exclusive streaming rights to WWE Premium Live Events, such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam, as well as a vast on-demand library of WWE programming, including past pay-per-views, documentaries, and original series. The service also features reality hits like “Love Island USA” and major films including “Wicked” and “Nosferatu.”

The platform reported strong growth in its subscriber base, reaching 41 million paid users in the first quarter of 2025, up from 36 million at the end of 2024. This expansion comes amid intensifying competition in the streaming market, where services are balancing content investments with profitability through price adjustments and tiered offerings.

Peacock’s parent company, NBCUniversal, has not disclosed specific reasons for the price hike beyond ongoing investments in content and user experience. The changes apply to both new and existing subscribers, with billing cycles reflecting the updates starting July 23.
