Hulu’s New Dating Show ‘Are You My First?’ Spotlights Virgins Searching for Love in Paradise
Hulu is flipping the script on traditional dating shows with its latest bold experiment: Are You My First? — a reality series that brings together 21 virgins in a tropical paradise to explore love, connection, and possibly, their very first sexual experience.
Premiering Monday, August 18, the series is created by the producers of Love Island USA and promises a fresh — and intimate — take on romance in the reality TV world. Hosted by former Bachelor star Colton Underwood and Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe, the show invites viewers to follow a cast unlike any other, all of whom are navigating the dating scene with their “V-cards intact.”
“In this groundbreaking new dating experiment, the largest, hottest group of virgins ever assembled search for intimacy, love – and maybe their first – in a tropical paradise designed just for them,” Hulu teases on its official description for the series.
While steamy challenges and emotional dates are on the agenda, the show isn’t all about heat and hormones. Are You My First? dives deep into the personal convictions and unique stories of its cast, highlighting the reasons each individual has waited. For some, it’s a reflection of Christian values or a personal commitment to marriage. For others, it’s simply about finding the right person.
Take Brooklyn, a 24-year-old dance teacher from Los Angeles, who told Entertainment Weekly that she’s still waiting because she believes “the right one is worth the wait.” Similarly, Godwin, a 27-year-old real estate developer from Edison, New Jersey, shared that while he enjoys the attention his virginity brings, he’s holding out for “his queen.” Jake, 32, from Los Angeles, cites his Christian faith as the foundation for his decision to abstain until marriage.
“For the first time, they’re free to explore their connections without judgment,” Hulu said in a press release Thursday, “allowing these sexy young singles to embark on a heated yet heartfelt journey packed with romantic dates, revealing challenges, and new love interests eager to find ‘the one.’”
The show isn’t just provocative — it’s also emotionally charged. With high stakes and vulnerable moments, Are You My First? sets itself apart as a reality series centered around trust, patience, and the deeply personal nature of intimacy.
As the press release puts it: “Who will find that special someone? And who will go home hot, bothered and heartbroken?”
Are You My First? premieres Monday, August 18, exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ for international audiences.
