House Oversight Committee Investigates Alleged $200,000 Payment to President Biden from Family Members
The House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer (R-Ky), has revealed that the committee has uncovered evidence suggesting that President Joe Biden received a “$200,000 direct payment” from his brother, James Biden, and sister-in-law, Sara Biden, in 2018. The chairman is now demanding answers from the President regarding potential “financial arrangements” with members of his family, raising questions about the President’s involvement in their business dealings and whether he personally benefited from them.
Comer has been leading an investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings since January, exploring the extent of President Biden’s involvement in these ventures and whether he profited from them.
In September, Comer issued three subpoenas for the personal and business bank records of both Hunter Biden and James Biden.
In a video posted on X, Comer presented the committee’s recent findings, stating that bank records obtained by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability revealed a $200,000 direct payment from James and Sara Biden to Joe Biden in the form of a personal check.
He explained that in 2018, James Biden received $600,000 in loans from Americore, a financially distressed and failing rural hospital operator. Court documents indicated that these loans were granted based on the representation that James Biden’s last name, “Biden,” could open doors and that his political connections could secure a substantial investment from the Middle East.
Comer highlighted that on March 1, 2018, Americore wired a $200,000 loan into James and Sara Biden’s personal bank account, rather than their business account. On the very same day, James Biden wrote a $200,000 check from this same personal bank account to Joe Biden, characterizing it as a “loan repayment.”
Even if this payment were a “loan repayment,” Comer emphasized that it raised questions about Joe Biden’s financial arrangements with his family members and their connections to “shady financial dealings.” Comer posed several questions for President Biden, including whether he possesses documentation proving the lending of such a significant sum to his brother and the terms of such a financial arrangement. The chairman also questioned whether similar financial arrangements existed with other family members that prompted them to make large payments to the President.
Comer further demanded that President Biden clarify whether he was aware that on the same day he received the $200,000 check, James Biden secured a loan of the exact same amount from a struggling company, casting a shadow over the family’s financial dealings.
While the White House spokesperson for oversight and investigations, Ian Sams, argued that the committee has not uncovered any evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, the House Oversight Committee continues its investigation into the Biden family’s business transactions. Comer and his fellow committee members are focused on exploring the sources and implications of the Biden family’s revenue, particularly the payments from individuals and companies in countries such as China, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Romania, between 2014 and 2019. These payments have allegedly been made by leveraging Joe Biden’s global reputation.
The investigation led by Comer is ongoing, with the committee vowing to continue to follow the money trail and uncover any potential conflicts of interest or questionable financial arrangements within the Biden family’s business dealings.
