Danielle Bradbery’s new single “The Heart of Dixie”

At 17, Danielle Bradbery is the youngest winner in The Voice history, but she can also claim the most iTunes downloads of any contestant to date, so her label should be excited about her potential.

The Texas native’s first single, “The Heart of Dixie,” gives a good indication of the vocal talent that helped the Team Blake member to victory, with its pretty, lilting melody assisted by jangly instrumentation.

Lyrically, it feels like it might have been engineered in a Music Row lab to generate screams and high-fives when she sings the payoff line, Ain’t nothin’ stronger than the heart of Dixie. A narrative about a woman named Dixie who gathers up the courage to leave a bad situation and head south, the tune doubles as an allegory for the resilience of all of the Deep South in the face of adversity and tragedy.
