Facebook Being sued over “Likes”

And I can almost put money on the fact that Facebook won’t “like” this (Credit, Mashable). Apparently, the idea of “liking” something on the internet was patented back in 1998.

Mashable wrote:

The social network is currently being sued for its use of the Like button, a feature which was patented by Dutch programmer Joannes Jozef Everardus van Der Meer in 1998, five years before Facebook’s launch.

With this in mind, why would it take the holder of the patent so long to file? Do you think Facebook will care? Talk to me in the comments below or on Twitter.com/therubenjay!
