Now this brings me to the other contestant Katy Perry took an immediate liking to, 27-year-old construction worker Trevor Holmes. Katy started drooling as soon as he walked in, referring to him as a ‘dream boat’, telling him he was ‘hot’ and asking if he had a fiance. All completely inappropriate predatory behaviors, likely making this guy, who has a girlfriend by the way, uncomfortable, not to mention the complete and utter disrespect for his partner. If I went to work one day and my male boss or male co-worker spoke to me like that, I’d get away from him as fast as I could, and would file a complaint to HR. Here’s the double standard again, Katy is a celebrity and a female, so apparently these two things make it ‘ok’. I’m ok with being playful, fun and having a good time, I’m not a prude by any stretch, but what does the fact that this guy was good looking have anything to do with his singing ability? It doesn’t. Maybe the show decided to go this route for the ‘entertainment factor’ or maybe it happened organically, who knows, but I found her behavior to be gross. Oddly enough, you didn’t see this behavior coming from Bryan or Richie towards any of the female contestants…hmm…interesting. If you did, all hell would have broken loose.
I think this show could go places, like I said I enjoyed the re-boot (for the most part), but I’d rather see the blunt and brash Simon Cowell on the panel than the creepy girl vibes coming from Katy Perry.
