Walt Disney Studio is developing a movie musical based on the legendary singer and American Idol judge Lionel Richie. The project is tentatively titled All Night Long after his hit 1983 song.
According to Variety, Ritchie pitched the project and it was accepted in January of this year. When Richie was negotiating with Disney/ABC to be on the reboot of American Idol, the network offered special projects like this one to the artist.
Richie will serve as a producer along qith his Manager Bruce Eskowitz as well as Calvary Media’s Dana Brunetti and Matt Del Piano. Screenwriter Pete Chiarelli (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “The Proposal”) has reportedly been tapped to write the script.
Richie Tweeted a link to the Variety report saying “Big things in the works!”
