McDonald’s To End Self-Serve Soda and Refills

So long, free refills and DIY soda concoctions: McDonald’s says buh-bye to self-serve drinks

Remember the good ol’ days of getting bottomless sugary drinks at McDonald’s? Yeah, those are slowly disappearing.

The fast-food giant is ditching those self-serve soda fountains we all know and love (or at least tolerate) by 2032. But guess what? Some locations are already scrapping them, and some are even charging extra for refills.

This move comes as McDonald’s tries to streamline things and push customers towards the drive-thru (where refills are basically nonexistent). Apparently, it’s cheaper and faster for them that way.

But here’s the real kicker: McDonald’s isn’t the only one doing this. Panera Bread and even Wegmans are ditching the self-serve fountains too. Sounds like the era of free fountain refills might be over.

Experts say cleaning these machines is a hassle, and some folks (like, ahem, some of us) might steal a little extra soda here and there.

So, what does this mean for us? Well, get ready to pay extra for that second Coke or wait in line for a refill.

But hey, at least you can still reminisce about the good ol’ days of DIY soda concoctions and endless refills.
