Robin Williams Dies at Age 63

Heartbreak struck the lives of many when the alarming news of one of Hollywood’s most humorous actors, Robin Williams, was announced dead.

The 63-year-old actor who was known to have struggled with drug addiction, sobriety, and depression was found dead in his Tiburon, California home on Monday August 11, 2014 at 11:45 am. His personal assistant discovered his body that morning and alerted the local police, who pronounced his death at 12:02 pm. The cause of his death was reported to be asphyxia. His body was then moved to the Napa County Sheriff’s Morgue for a scheduled autopsy this morning.

Earlier today the Marin County Sheriff’s Department released details pertaining to his death. Lt. Keith Boyd informed the public that the actor had cut himself with a pocketknife and later hug himself with a belt. Boyd tells reporters he was found, “with a belt wedged between the closed closet door and door frame,” as well as adding, “acute, superficial cuts on the inside of his left wrist.”

The official results of his death will not be announced for another two to six weeks due to toxicology testing.

His wife, who was reported to have last seen Williams released the statement: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions. ” His daughter Zelda, along with many other grieving friends have released loving statements on the twitter accounts.

Funeral preparations have not been announced.

Although his death was rather tragic and startling, Robin Williams will be remembered as a talented man who not only brought tears of laughter but tears of compassion out of his movie viewers. His jovial spirit will live on in his movies, his television shows, his comedy, and his fans.
