Starbucks is in the process of hiring their next CEO after Kevin Johnson announced his retirement. If you are looking to be the next CEO of the coffee chain, you better not be working for the company right now, interim CEO and failed 2020 Presidential contender Howard Schultz told the Wall Street Journal.
Schultz says that Starbucks needs a new type of leader.
“For the future of the company, we need a domain of experience and expertise in a number of disciplines that we don’t have now,” Schultz told the Wall Street Journal. “It requires a different type of leader.”
Starbucks is facing unionization across the board. The next CEO would be tasked with negotiating with union leaders and try to fend off future unionization attempts.
