Usher to Headline 2024 Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show
Grammy-winning sensation Usher is gearing up to take center stage at the 2024 Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII halftime show, promising fans a performance unlike anything they’ve seen from him before. The NFL, in collaboration with Roc Nation and Apple Music, made the much-anticipated announcement on Sunday.
Scheduled for February 11, 2024, at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, just outside Las Vegas, Super Bowl LVIII will be broadcast live on CBS.
Usher expressed his excitement and gratitude for this incredible opportunity, stating, “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
This will mark Usher’s second appearance at the Super Bowl, with his previous performance being in 2011 when he joined forces with the Black Eyed Peas, helping to deliver a memorable halftime show.
Currently captivating audiences with his “My Way: The Las Vegas Residency,” Usher has earned rave reviews for his dynamic dance performances and his extensive catalog of chart-topping hits. With eight Grammy Awards to his name and over 80 million albums sold worldwide, Usher has been a prominent figure in the music industry since his self-titled debut album in 1994. He boasts nine No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including classics like “Nice & Slow,” “Yeah!,” and “U Remind Me.” Albums like “Confessions” (2004) are considered R&B and pop classics, with “Confessions” achieving diamond status.
Roc Nation, led by Jay-Z, will produce the halftime show for the fifth consecutive year. Last year’s epic performance featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar, earning the team an Emmy. This year’s halftime show, starring Rihanna, received five Emmy nominations, with Jay-Z himself nominated for two, including outstanding directing for a variety special.
Jay-Z praised Usher’s artistry, saying, “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul. His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic.”
Super Bowl LVIII will mark the first time the event is held in the Las Vegas area and will take place one week after the 2024 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, expressed enthusiasm for Usher’s performance, saying, “Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career. We look forward to working with Usher, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to bring fans another Halftime Show for the history books.”
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are so proud of what we were able to accomplish together with the NFL and Roc Nation last year, and now with the insanely talented Usher set to take the stage, we’re looking forward to another incredible Halftime Show from one of the world’s all-time greatest performers.”
The Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show telecast will be produced by DPS, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers and Hamish Hamilton as director.
