Nicki Minaj Backed Out of the BET Concert Due to Offensive Tweet

“Bang Bang,” Nicki Minaj just dropped out of the BET festival because of an offensive tweet from the network.

If you are not aware of the drama between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, you are now, since the BET definitely contributed to it.

After Cardi accepted her Grammy as the first solo female rapper to win a in the category for rap album on Sunday, BET published a news item covering her win along with a headline that said, “Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront.”

The tweet was quickly deleted, but that didn’t stop Minaj from announcing that she and her Young Money team will not be performing at their BET Experience or BET Award Show. She was the headliner for both.

So here’s a rundown of what happened:

After the BET Twitter account posted their offensive tweet to Minaj, fans slammed the account for their statement.

Then, about 24 hours later, Minaj tweeted:

In a separate post, Minaj took the time to appreciate her fans for their support: “I can’t thank you guys enough for all the love & support you continue to show me. To everyone who said something sweet, thank you. Whether I read it or not, I felt it. From the bottom of my heart. I love you so much. Stay tuned.”

I guess the beef with Cardi B and Minaj continues, even though neither of them started the drama.

The BET concerts are scheduled for June 20-23 at L.A. Live. Who will headline now?
