Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Announces Independent Presidential Run
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced that he is dropping his 2024 presidential bid in the Democratic Party and will now run as an independent candidate.
Kennedy made the announcement in Philadelphia, stating that he sees himself as a solution for people who are “fed up with being fooled and [are] ready to take back power.”
This move follows Kennedy’s unsuccessful attempts to force the Democratic Party and President Joe Biden into holding debates.
A CNN analysis noted that Kennedy’s independent run could potentially hurt Republicans more than Democrats in a general election, as his favorable numbers are higher among Republicans than Democrats.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel criticized Kennedy as a “typical elitist liberal” with a record of endorsing Hillary Clinton, supporting the Green New Deal, opposing the Keystone Pipeline, and praising AOC’s tax hikes.
Kennedy’s decision to run as an independent adds another dimension to the 2024 presidential race.
